Phuhlisani NPC

Practical planning, knowledge sharing and building communities of practice for effective land reform and diversified rural livelihoods

Welcome

In October 2015, after 12 years in operation as a closed corporation, Phuhlisani Solutions was converted to a non-profit:  Phuhlisani NPC.  All of our directors and associates have long histories in the CSO sector, so in part we have returned to our roots. In establishing a non-profit company we bring years of consulting experience in a bid to build and grow an engaged, ethical and effective organisation.
While practical  planning and work on the ground is Phuhlisani's key strength we also provide value added services including a dedicated land news website knowledgebase.land  and
Twitter account that provides links to the main stories making land news in South Africa and the region.  We also have close links with the Land Portal - an international NGO based in Holland sharing news, facilitating discussion and contributing in-depth country profiles.

Our work

Our work currently focuses on:
  • Practical planning for area based land reform and to establish local and inclusive development partnerships.
  • Innovation to transform and localise land governance and land rights recordal;
  • Social movement support and advocacy in the land sector;
  • Knowledge curation and sharing
We bring together specialist researchers and experienced practitioners spanning a variety of disciplines.
 We maintain an established network of skilled associates who we regularly draw in to different projects and assignments. We collaborate closely with key organisations and networks in the land sector.
Our starting point is the recognition of complexity - that in every setting there are multiple actors, different stories and ways of seeing reflecting unequal relations of power, conflicting interests and needs.
We aim to hear these different voices as the foundation for crafting policy proposals, development approaches and practical programmes which promote social justice, equity and result in improved livelihoods and wellbeing.
Never again shall a single story be told as though it were the only one.
